angkas Intiland, one of the most popular badminton clubs in the country, celebrated its 67th anniversary in Jakarta by launching a book on Thursday evening.
The book, entitled Tangkas, 67 Tahun Berkomitmen Mencetak Jawara Bulutangkis (Tangkas, 67 Years of Commitment to Creating Badminton Champions), was written by club chairman Justian Suhandinata and badminton journalist Broto Happy Wondomisnowo.
Tangkas was established in Jakarta on Feb. 21, 1951. During the 67 years of its existence, the club has helped the country win four gold medals in the Olympics, 10 world championship titles, nine All England titles and 10 Asian Games golds.
The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Jonatan Christie is on the winners’ list and was seen in the evening celebration at the Mulia Hotel in Senayan.
In the event, Justian was also introduced as the first Indonesian to be named “honorary life vice president” by Badminton World Federation (BWF) president Poul Erik Hoyer Larsen in a video message.
