irport train Railink started operating from Duri Station, West Jakarta on Dec. 20 to anticipate a surge in passengers during the Christmas and New Year holiday.
Airport train operator PT Railink president director Heru Kuswanto said the train had started operating in Duri Station as of Dec. 20.
Platforms in the station have been divided to accommodate the airport train service.
"The third and fourth lines will be used for the airport trains while the first line will be used for commuter trains departing to Angke and Jatinegara. The second line will be used for commuter trains departing to Depok and Bogor, and the fifth line will be used for commuter trains to Duri and Tangerang," Heru said.
Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Station, passengers will be provided with Skytrain services to reach their departure terminal (T1, T2 and T3).
In the long run, Haru added, Railink would add new trips, extend existing routes, and shorten travel time. (ars)
