ublicly listed chemical company PT Chandra Asri has confirmed that its factory in Anyer, Banten, had not been significantly affected by a tsunami that hit the region on Saturday night.
Chandra Asri director Suryandi said the company could still operate normally after the natural disaster, which has killed at least 280 people, including holidaymakers in Tanjung Lesung and Anyer beaches.
He said the company had started assessing the tsunami’s impact on its factory, which is located next to Anyer Beach.
“Based on our [initial] assessment, some of our facilities were struck by waves, but the impact was minor,” Suryandi said in a statement to the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta.
He added that Chandra Asri was also collecting information on factory employees who might have been affected by the disaster, but confirmed none had perished in the incident.
“We express our condolences to the families of those who were affected by the tsunami in Anyer and its surrounding areas,” he added as quoted by kontan.co.id. (bbn)
