ozens of motorcycles were confiscated during a police raid on Saturday on an unfinished section of the Cinere-Serpong toll road in South Tangerang, Banten. Many of the motorbikes were left behind by illegal racers who fled the scene to escape the raid.

“We confiscated 82 motorcycles and apprehended many of their drivers. Some of them [were apprehended] when fleeing, some of them while they were still on their motorcycles,” South Tangerang Traffic Police chief Adj. Comr. Lalu Hedwin said on Sunday as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

They were arrested for questioning and are being accused of creating public unrest.

Lalu said his office had received multiple complaints from residents who felt disturbed by an illegal race that was held on an unfinished section of the toll road.

Once completed, the toll road will connect Serpong to Cinere and Cengkareng in Tangerang. (fac)
