Teen flick Dilan 1991 has charmed a record-breaking 2 million viewers in the first three days after its premier on Feb. 28.

MAX Pictures, which jointly produced Dilan 1991 with Falcon Pictures, expressed its joy over the achievement on its Instagram account.

“All time [box office] record, 2,082,000 viewers. Thank you Indonesian moviegoers,” @_maxpictures wrote on Sunday.

A sequel to Dilan 1990, the movie follows the carefree teen love story between Dilan (Iqbaal Ramadhan) and Milea (Vanesha Prescilla) during the 1990s in the city of Bandung, West Java.

Dilan 1990 was Indonesia’s biggest hit at the box office last year, recording 6.31 million ticket sales.

Both movies are adapted from a popular book series written by Pidi Baiq, an artist and The Panas Dalam band member.
