Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet his supporters in Ocarina, Batam, Riau Islands, on Wednesday afternoon.
It will be his second visit to the region as a presidential candidate after campaigning in Medan, North Sumatra, last month.
Rachmat Nasution, the leader of the #GantiPresiden (ChangePresident) movement in Tanjung Pinang, said hundreds of people in the province have been making a number of preparations, including banners and posters, to welcome the presidential hopeful.
“Our presidential candidate, Prabowo, is scheduled to arrive at 1 p.m.,” he said as quoted by Antara.
Rachmat expressed hope that the event would convince the volunteers to vote for Prabowo next month.
“We pray that Prabowo and his partner, Sandiaga Uno, win in the upcoming election,” he added.
Rachmat also expressed hope that the event would go down smooth and peaceful.
“We must be the pioneers who create peaceful campaigns because we don’t like to spread fake news and attack supporters of the other presidential candidate,” he said. (das)
