he State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry has given the green light to state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) to take over 25 percent of shares worth Rp 600 billion (US$42,739,500) in PT Bandara Internasional Jawa Barat (BIJB).

BIJB is the current operator of Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka, West Java.

The majority shareholder of the airport is the West Java administration, with minor shareholders including province-owned company PT Jasa Sarana.

“There are many ways [to purchase the shares], and we are still considering all options,” AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said on April 18 as quoted by tempo.co.

Awaluddin said the West Java government had agreed to the plan, as long as the distribution of shares was “simple, quick and inexpensive”.

West Java secretary Iwa Karniwa said discussions on the matter was “almost finished”.

He added that discussions over the shares distribution commenced on Jan. 22., 2018 and was now focused on the portion of shares AP II would own and on the airport's operation. (mai/bbn)
