Four arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs into prison in Depok, West Java.
he narcotics unit of the Depok Police in West Java have arrested four suspects for allegedly attempting to smuggle more than 2,000 crystal meth and four ecstasy tablets into Cilodong Penitentiary in Depok on Saturday.
Police identified the suspects only as G, K, A and F. F is a prisoner in the penitentiary.
Depok Police spokesperson First. Insp. Made said the police got a tip off about the drug-smuggling attempt and followed it up.
The police coordinated with prison officers to check any goods brought by visitors into the prison.
During the check, one of the suspects, G, a visitor, was found with drugs hidden inside a pack of milk powder.
“When checked, [an officer] found 100 crystal meth and four ecstasy tablets that were to be handed over to F,” Made said.
He added that G explained that he had obtained the drugs from an unknown person in West Jakarta, introduced by F.
“The phone number of the unknown person was given by F to G to guide him in picking up the drugs,” Made said.
He added that other packages of crystal meth were confiscated in three different locations.
The first one was in K’s relative’s house in Pakansari, Cibinong, West Java. The crystal meth was later transferred to A’s house in Babakan Madang, Bogor.
Afterward, the drugs were transferred to G’s rooming house on Jl. Mayor Oking in Cibinong.
Made said the suspects were currently being questioned by Depok Police for further investigation. (sau)
