Only after three decades, Amazon has grown to become one of the largest firms in the world. In the realm of technology, Amazon is now one of the big four tech companies along with Google, Facebook and Apple, with massive reach and wealth. In the United States, Amazon captures nearly half of the US e-commerce market, with sales reaching a staggering US$258 billion in 2018. The company's cloud arm Amazon Web Services (AWS), meanwhile, holds dominance in the cloud computing infrastructure market with a share of 33 percent, according to Synergy Research Group analysis.
