French tourist accidentally rode his motorbike onto the Malang-Pandaan toll road in Malang, East Java, after following directions shown by Google Maps.
The tourist, identified only as Philippe, was heading to the Pasuruan animal theme park.
East Java Police traffic unit head AKBP Bambang S. Wibowo said he had received a report of a motorcycle entering the toll road at 8.30 a.m. from a toll booth officer.
A patrolling officer stopped Phillipe and checked his license. Philippe explained that he had spent two days in Malang and was trying to get to the Pasuruan animal theme park with the help of Google Maps.
“He showed us his passport, his international driver's license and the vehicle registration certificate [STNK] for the motorcycle,” Bambang said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
The police told Philippe that the toll road was limited to four-wheeled vehicles only.
“We then guided him to the exit,” Suharyono said. (dpk)
