he police are investigating an explosion that took place in the back yard of the Parepare Prosecutor’s Office in South Sulawesi on Tuesday afternoon.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Muhammad Iqbal confirmed the incident but refused to give details about the cause of the explosion as the investigation is still ongoing.
“We don’t know where the blast came from. It happened at 2:45 p.m. in the back yard of the Parepare Prosecutor’s Office,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday as reported by kompas.com.
He said it was still unknown whether a low or high explosive had been used. The Parepare police have deployed a bomb squad to investigate the site and assess the possibility of another explosion.
No casualties have been reported in the incident. The blast caused some damage to the building, Iqbal said, although he could not yet give details on the level of destruction. (vla)
