car carrying seven people was hit by an Argo Parahyangan train traveling from Bandung, West Java to Jakarta, killing everyone on board.
Bekasi Police Spokesman Adj. Comm. Sunardi said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. on Jl. Raya Bosih, Cibitung district, Bekasi regency, West Java, on Saturday when the car went through the railway crossing even though the gate was closed.
“The driver ignored the alarm bells and the gate had already closed but there was a small opening,” said Sunardi on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
“As the driver tried to pass through the gate, the car was hit by the train.”
The accident killed everyone in the car.
The victims have been identified as Watinah, 50; Santi, 30; Didit, 12; Yanto (age unknown); Bahrudin, 51; Syarufudin, 49; and Yanda, 32.
Police transported the bodies to Bekasi General Hospital. (mpr)
