A 51-year-old male pedestrian died when he was hit by a car on Sunday in the Lippo Karawaci housing complex in Tangerang, Banten.
An eyewitness, Dearyani Eka Dharma, a niece of the victim, said her uncle was engaged in his afternoon jog around the area alongside his daughter and pet dog.
She said that suddenly a car driven by a 26-year-old male hit her uncle, identified only as AN. The man reportedly died on the spot.
According to the niece, when her aunt learned about the accident, she became hysterical and started to scold the accused driver.
However, the driver allegedly objected to the treatment and reportedly grabbed the victim’s wife’s hair.
A Tangerang Police spokesman, Second Insp. Abdul Rachim, said police suspected the alleged perpetrator was texting while driving when the incident took place, kompas.com reported. (dpk)
