wo factories in Karawang, West Java, have been locked down for 14 days by the local administration in response to a report that dozens of employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Karawang COVID-19 task force spokesperson Fitra Hergyana identified the two factories, owned by PT DNP and PT Exedy Manufacturing. They are both located in Karawang International Industrial City.
“However, in urgent situations where factories’ machines are unable to be turned off, we can give permission [for a limited number of staff to work] under the condition that they follow health protocols,” he said on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Fitra added that 34 employees working for PT DNP – a plastic packaging manufacturer – had tested positive for COVID-19. PT Exedy Manufacturing, an automotive tools manufacturer, reported that fifteen employees and family members had tested positive.
