Since Saturday, the remaining 11 patients staying at the hotel have been relocated to the Bekasi Patriot Chandrabhaga stadium, which is used as a temporary hospital for the pandemic.

"The Green Hotel is not extended as a self-isolation facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients because, for one month, the average occupancy rate was below 20 percent," city spokesperson Sayekti Rubiah said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

However, Sayekti did not rule out the possibility of reusing the hotel as a self-isolation facility. “Hotel[s] will be used again if the transmission rate rises and new clusters appear,” the statement said.

Previously, the head of health services at the Bekasi Health Service, Rina Oktavia, said several ambulances had been used to transfer patients from the hotel to the stadium.

As of a few days ago, the Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium hospital has admitted 148 COVID-19 patients. Of that number, 23 patients were still being treated, 11 patients have been transferred to other hospitals and 114 have been discharged after recovering.

Data from corona.bekasikota.go.id show that the city has so far recorded 6,675 COVID-19 cases with 142 fatalities and 6,154 recoveries. Meanwhile, 379 patients are still under treatment or under isolation.

Separately, the West Java administration revealed that the cities of Cimahi, Bekasi, Bogor, Bandung and Cirebon had the best COVID-19 countermeasure performance last week, even though Bekasi was still categorized as a red zone, or an area with a high-risk of COVID-19 transmission.

The West Java COVID-19 committee has evaluated the province’s COVID-19 countermeasures using various indicators, ranging from testing, tracing and treatment to preventive policies and governance. 

Regarding the rapid test checks on tourists who took advantage of the long weekend last week, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil explained that rapid tests were carried out on tens of thousands of people in 15 cities and districts in West Java.

"Rapid tests were carried out on 14,000 people, and 408 tourists were found to be [coronavirus positive]," said Ridwan said.

He added that people who tested positive were told to take a swab test. The tourists were currently waiting for the results of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, Ridwan said, expressing hope that not all of the 408 people would be confirmed positive for the coronavirus.

"The swabs samples are piling up,” said Ridwan.

Meanwhile West Java Health Agency head Berli Hamdani said the cases were found mostly at crowded tourist destinations like Puncak, Bogor and Pangandaran in Sukabumi, Cianjur and Bogor. (iwa)
