NE Championship recently released the full card for its ONE 161: Moraes vs. Johnson II event, which will be broadcast live on United States primetime from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Aug. 26 (Aug. 27 in Indonesia).
As previously announced, the spectacle is headlined by the ONE flyweight world title rematch between Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson.
“Mighty Mouse” looks to level the rivalry after Moraes handed him his first career knockout in their first fight. The mixed martial arts (MMA) great can find some redemption and snatch the divisional strap if he manages to defeat “Mikinho.”
Before that highly anticipated showdown plays out, Liam Harrison takes his shot at ending ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao's longtime reign.
The Englishman strongly believes he can be the first man to defeat the Thai sensation in ONE, but whether that rings true remains to be seen.
In addition to those two incredible battles, the semifinals of the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world Grand Prix unfold on the evening’s main card.
ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon meets Savvas “The Baby Face Killer” Michael for a chance to make it to the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world grand prix championship final.
Both men are fired up after their respective quarterfinal victories, so fans should expect a barnburner when they collide.
ONE has also added a Grand Prix alternate bout to the event, giving Iranian-Malaysian fighter Amir Naseri a second chance to participate in the tournament. He faces former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, who had to withdraw from the Grand Prix before the first round due to unforeseen health issues.
The winner of this bout will step in should either of the finalists pull out.
Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida will face former ONE world title challenger Kirill Grishenko in a heavyweight MMA battle on the main card. “Buchecha” has gone 3-0 in the organization and may have the hardest bout of his MMA career yet when he steps in against the Belarusian dynamo.
Lastly, Amir Aliakbari takes on Mauro Cerilli in a battle for heavyweight relevancy.
