ONE Championship to air on Brazil’s prime time following mega deal with Globo

T

he world’s largest martial arts organization ONE Championship announced last week a broadcast partnership with Globo’s Combate as the exclusive distributor of its live martial arts events in Brazil.

Globo is the largest commercial television network in Latin America with an approximate reach of 200 million viewers across its free-to-air, digital and pay TV channels.

The multi-year agreement, set to commence in January 2023, calls for 12 events to be broadcast annually live in prime time.

“ONE just got even bigger! I am thrilled to announce that Globo is the new home of ONE in Brazil!” ONE CEO and chairman Chatri Sityodtong posted on Facebook on Friday, noting that Globo is the leading provider of premium combat sports content in Brazil through its pay-per-view channel, Combate.

“With this new exclusive multiyear partnership, ONE events will be shown live in prime time in Brazil. BOOM!!!” he added.

The latest deal marks another significant growth for ONE this year as the Singapore-based organization previously sealed broadcast partnerships with some of the biggest and most prestigious broadcasters in the world, namely Amazon’s Prime Video in North America and beIN SPORTS in the Middle East.

From these three channels alone, ONE can reach over 450 million subscribers.

Rafael Gruenbaum, head of Combate, said that the deal was in line with the company’s goal in providing premium and curated combat sports content to its audience.
