View all search resultsMore than 9 million people in North Sumatra will vote on Wednesday to elect a new governor, which will be either retired three-star general Edy Rahmayadi or seasoned politician Djarot Saiful Hidayat of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
It is a four-horse race in South Sulawesi, with an intriguing field of candidates: an incumbent deputy governor, a former graft convict, an antigraft award recipient and the scion of a regional political dynasty all competing in the upcoming gubernatorial race.
The 9th regional military command (Kodam IX Udayana) is set to deploy some 3,300 personnel to support the police safeguard the regional head elections in Bali on Wednesday. They will monitor 6,296 polling stations across the province.
