The Nobel laureate has been detained since her government was forced out in a coup last year that triggered mass protests, and she faces a raft of charges that could see her sentenced to more than 150 years in jail.
For years, Myanmar Beer dominated bars and supermarket shelves, the Japanese backing is a sign of the economic liberalization washing into the Southeast Asian country after the military relaxed its iron grip on power in 2011.
Telenor in May 2021 wrote down the value of its Myanmar business by 6.5 billion crowns ($751 million) and later said it would be sold for $105 million to Lebanese investment firm M1 and local firm Shwe Byain Phyu.
"M1 Group has been informed that the Myanmar Investment Commission has approved Telenor Group's application for the sale of Telenor Myanmar to Investcom PTE Ltd., an M1 Group affiliate," M1 said in a statement.
Cambodia Foreign Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry said members of the bloc had not reached a consensus on inviting Myanmar's foreign minister amid a lack of progress in meeting a peace plan agreed with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Cambodia is the current chair of the 10-member bloc, Reuters reported.
