View all search resultsUniversity of Indonesia (UI) rector Ari Kuncoro has stepped down from his role at state-owned lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) following concern about recent changes in a university statute that legalized his dual role, despite potential conflicts of interest.
On May 20, 109 medical workers – including 14 specialist doctors, eight general practitioners, 33 civil servant nurses and 11 honorary staff members – were dismissed after going on strike over a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE), low wages and the absence of proper shelter.
"We urge the government to stop the preemployment card program and we hope that the Ombudsman conducts an investigation related to the alleged maladministration in the program," Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) activist Tibiko Zabar said.
Indonesian Ombudsman member Alamsyah Saragih has said that data collected by his office indicates that 397 state officials have second roles at state firms, while 167 others have secured positions at subsidiaries of those companies.
