View all search resultsAs President Jokowi prepares to preside over the Independence Day celebrations in Nusantara on Aug. 17, it appears that the two living former presidents might not join him: Yudhoyono has begged off attending due to a prior engagement in his hometown while Megawati has not confirmed either way.
Speaking during an iftar dinner at the Democratic Party headquarters in Jakarta, Prabowo said that it was likely that he would put Yudhoyono's paintings on display at the planned presidential palace in Nusantara, the country's new capital in East Kalimantan.
Deputy secretary general of the Democratic Party Ossy Dermawan said that although the elder Yudhoyono did not join Agus’ swearing in ceremony as the new agrarian and spatial planning minister and head of the National Land Agency (BPN), he had given his full support for Agus to assume the position.
The Democratic Party chairman has credited the presidency of his father Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the originator of the downstreaming policy, while giving a nod to the current administration's intensified efforts and expressing his belief that if elected, Prabowo-Gibran would continue the program.
Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited Cikeas to meet SBY and AHY to discuss election matters. After the visit, AHY expressed his hopes that Prabowo-Gibran would win the upcoming election.
