Indonesia has lodged a formal complaint with the Fijian government expressing its “deep disappointment” with the South Pacific country’s recognition of West Papua and support for the separatist movement there, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The global fertilizer shortage has prompted the government to develop a new fertilizer production facility in West Papua that will start operating in 2027, with a dual aim to reinvigorate the agriculture industry in the country’s eastern regions.

The government has said it will file a complaint against what it has called an “unprofessional, ill-intentioned and one-sided” report by three United Nations human rights experts on its handling of conflicts in Papua.
