Manpower Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri has been tapped to lead the Youth and Sports Ministry, replacing former minister Imam Nahrawi who stepped down from the position after being named a bribery suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The Youth and Sports Ministry is raising the possibility for the female members of the national flag-hoisting team (Paskibraka) to wear trousers in place of the knee-long skirts to help them “move more easily”.
Strong performances at the Games and Para Games restored the country’s pride in sports, as only a year ago it finished fifth at the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur, tallying 38 gold medals — the worst in the country’s history in the biennial event.
Among the awardees was Yayasan Inisiatif Peduli Bangsa (Indonesia for Refugees) founder Cassia Tandiono an 11th grade student at Pelita Harapan School who received the Pemuda Berprestasi International (Internationally Achieved Youth Award).
