View all search resultsAll palm oil companies were ordered to each pay a Rp 1 billion (US$59,580) fine, along with various restitution ranging from Rp 900 billion to nearly Rp 12 trillion, after they were declared guilty in a corruption case pertaining to crude palm oil export permits.
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has named four suspects, including a senior government official, in a case of corruption that led to a lack of of cooking oil and high prices for the commodity on the local market.
An official said the government had also permanently revoked the export permit of PT Gunung Bintan Abadi (GBA), a bauxite producer in Riau. He said the company had ignored three warnings issued by the government.
Trade Minister Enggartiasto “Enggar” Lukita has said his ministry is ready to issue a permit for mineral concentrate exports to gold and copper mining firm PT Freeport Indonesia, after US-based Freeport McMoRan agreed reduce its stake in its Indonesian subsidiary to 49 percent and construct a smelter.
