The global average surface air temperature rose to 17.15 degrees Celsius — 0.06 degrees higher than Sunday's marginal record according to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, which has been tracking such patterns since 1940.
"The expected climate for haj this year will witness an increase in average temperatures of one and a half to two degrees above normal in Mecca and Medina," national meteorology centre chief Ayman Ghulam told a press conference.
As an archipelagic state, Indonesia needs to take a direct lead in protecting marine areas in the high seas by ratifying the United Nation’s BBNJ Agreement and incorporating its management as part of its Vision 2045.
