View all search resultswo kampongs in Malang, East Java, that were once considered dirty slums have been colorfully painted by their residents and are now attracting tourists.
Malang Mayor M. Anton told kompas.com on Tuesday that the Warna-warni (colorful) and Tridi kampongs nestled in the subdistricts of Jodipan and Kesatrian and separated by the Brantas River, had attracted a lot of attention for their bright color scheme, and even foreign tourists had paid them a visit.

Anton said the city administration would continued to develop the kampongs, including building a connecting suspension bridge for pedestrians.
The first kampong that transformed its appearance was Warna-warni, followed by Tridi, which now has 3D-paintings to greet visitors. The latter also plans to have 80 of these images across the kampong. (kha/kes)
