Dangdut singer partners with Tourism Ministry to launch new cake brand

Dangdut singer Fitri Carlina is going to launch her own celebrity cake brand called Banyuwangi Savana Cake.
The launching event will be conducted on Aug. 20 at the Savana Cake Store in Banyuwangi, East Java.
“I’ve been wanting to contribute to my hometown and in the midst of the rising of Banyuwangi tourism, I would like to present a food product that adopts the traditional taste of Banyuwangi and can become oleh-oleh [souvenir],” said Fitri.
The products being sold by the brand are essentially banana cakes with several different toppings and catchy names, such as Savana Red Island, Savana Green Bay, Savana Blue Fire, Savana Sunrise of Java and Savana Wedi Ireng.
“I choose banana because back in the 80’s until 90’s, Banyuwangi produced plenty of bananas that it earned the nickname of banana city. But then a virus struck the banana trees there and caused the production to decrease drastically,” Fitri added.

In promoting her new food business, Fitri has agreed to do a co-branding agreement with the Tourism Ministry. This means that the Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia tourism brands will be placed on the cake’s packaging.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya appreciates Fitri’s effort in promoting Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia brands. He said that a celebrity endorser like Fitri will give a huge impact in improving the tourism brand of Indonesia.
Apart from Fitri, the ministry also has a co-branding agreement with another celebrity cake brand called Malang Strudel from celebrity couple Teuku Wisnu and Shireen Sungkar. (kes)
