The toll road connects the centers of national economy in North Sumatra.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officiated the new 52-kilometer toll road in North Sumatra on Oct. 14.
The toll road connects Medan – Kualanamu – Tebing Tinggi Parbarakan – Sei Rampah route for 41.7 kilometers and Medan – Binjai for 10.46 km.
“This toll road will have a huge impact for North Sumatra; it will also strengthen the metropolitan city arrangement of Medan – Binjai – Deli – Serdang – Karo as the third metropolitan area in Indonesia,” said Jokowi.

The toll road also connects the centers of national economy in North Sumatra, such as the industrial area in Medan, Kualanamu International Airport, Kuala Tanjung harbor, Sei Mangke Special Economic Zone and the access to Lake Toba.
“In the future, every place will be connected to the Medan – Kuala Namu – Tebing Tinggi Pematang Siantar – Parapat toll. The travel duration from Kualanamu International Airport to Lake Toba will be shortened from four to five hours to only two hours,” told the President.
Plans are also in store to connect Medan and Tebing Tinggi that stretches for 56 km by mid 2018. (kes)
