Various discounts will lure shoppers across the country during the one-month-long event.

The WICSF 2018 will officially open at Beachwalk Shopping Center in Bali on Sept. 27, coinciding with World Tourism Day.

As reported by kompas.com, up to 150 malls across 20 provinces will participate in the festival, including Jakarta, Pekanbaru, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Sulawesi and East Kalimantan.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya welcomed the event, which has entered the ministry's 100 Calendar of Event, and expects it to continue boosting the country's tourism.

"This annual festival is an interesting event since it strategically can boost economy, increase shopping and culinary transactions that contribute to tourism sector, and most importantly lure foreign tourists from neighboring countries," said Arief.

The event is also said to positively affect small and medium business players to continue manufacturing good quality products, from fabrics and batik clothes to tenun (woven textile) and handicrafts. (kes)
