Batam to host 2019 Miss Tourism Worldwide
A beauty pageant to be held on Sept. 22 at Pacific Palace Hotel Batam is to feature programs like a talent show, cultural exchanges and a display of national attire.

he city of Batam in Riau Islands province is to host the grand finale of the 2019 Miss Tourism Worldwide pageant, which is attracting about 30 contestants from around the globe.
"Batam being chosen to host this event means Indonesia has all the supporting features for world-class tourism. There are many destinations to be visited in Batam, as well as on the Riau Islands in general," said the Tourism Ministry's deputy for marketing development, Rizki Handayani, in Jakarta as quoted by the Antara news agency on Wednesday.

The pageant to be held on Sept. 22 at Pacific Palace Hotel Batam is to feature programs like a talent show, cultural exchanges and a display of national attire.
Meanwhile Riau Islands Tourism Agency head Boeralimar said he is optimistic the event would provide very good branding for Batam tourism.
"[This pageant] will receive huge attention from the global public, including media exposure. Each of the contestants' activities will be reported in detail to the world," Boeralimar said. (nic/kes)
