Low cost carrier Citilink has reopened several domestic routes that had been suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Citilink Indonesia president director Juliandra Nurtjahjo said the routes has been reopened to support tourism in the country.
The reopened routes are Jakarta-Yogyakara (departing twice daily), Jakarta-Surakarta (twice daily), Jakarta–Labuan Bajo (once daily), Medan-Nias (twice daily) and Jakarta-Denpasar (departing seven times a day).
In early July, Juliandra said the airline was hoping to increase its flights to 200 per day by the fourth quarter – about 68 percent of Citilink’s typical traffic before the pandemic.
He added that the company was optimizing the use of its aircraft and was prioritizing health through frequent disinfection and the use of high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters.
The airline offered free rapid tests to the first 500 passengers who traveled in July. (wng)
