he United States would continue to support Indonesia’s transition to green energy as part of the latter’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, US officials said, without disclosing specific details over any investments to reflect such support.

The US senior advisor of the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Robert Blake, and US Department of Treasury climate counselor John Morton were in Jakarta for a three-day official visit that ended on Wednesday, outlining the US’ commitment to strengthening climate cooperation with Indonesia.

The delegation had held talks with key officials of the government, including Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif.

The US delegation’s visit coincided with a similar visit made by the French Development Agency (AFD) director general Rémy Rioux on Monday, during which he reaffirmed France’s support of helping Indonesia’s transition into renewable energy and to promote sustainable finance.
