President Joko Widodo is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday to discuss “global matters and partnership in several issues”, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.
resident Joko “Jokowi”' Widodo departed on a seven-hour flight to Beijing on Monday afternoon accompanied by the First Lady and several ministers to start off his trip through East Asia.
Jokowi is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday to discuss “global matters and partnership in several issues”, according to a statement on Monday released by the Presidential Secretariat’s press bureau.
On Wednesday, he will journey to Japan and then finally make a stopover at South Korea the following day.
“The three countries are important partners [of Indonesia], ASEAN as well as in the context of G20,” Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said in a statement from the secretariat.
“Various issues from trade, investment, health and infrastructure, to fisheries and regional and global matters will be discussed with the three leaders.”
Retno and Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan are already in Beijing to lay the groundwork for the President’s arrival on Monday night.
Other officials in the entourage include State Secretary Pratikno, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, military secretary to the President Air Marshal Tony Harjono and head of state protocol Andy Rachmianto.
