The Indonesian and French militaries agreed to improve defense cooperation during a meeting between Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Gen. Agus Subiyanto and his French counterpart.
ndonesian Military (TNI) chief Gen. Agus Subiyanto met with French Armed Forces chief Gen. Thierry Burkhard to improve cooperation in the defense and security sectors.
Agus visited the French Armed Forces headquarters at the Hexagone Ballard in Paris on Wednesday, and was welcomed by the French guards of honor, the TNI said in a media statement issued on Saturday.
The meeting was aimed at increasing defense cooperation between the TNI and the French Armed Forces, an important step toward developing a professional and modern military.
During the meeting, Agus also thanked Burkhard for the French military’s participation in the Super Garuda Shield 2023 joint exercise and the 2023 Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK).
The TNI chief also extended an invitation to Super Garuda Shield 2024, to be held in August-September, and to the next edition of the MNEK in Bali in 2025.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the world’s largest defense industry exhibition in land and air services, the biennial Eurosatory at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center.
