The Indonesian Hospital in Gaza has sustained multiple attacks in the past few days, including a siege on Saturday that led to the death of two patients treated in the facility, amid Israeli forces' intensified operations in the northern part of the territory.
he Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel’s attacks against healthcare facilities and workers in northern Gaza, which included several strikes on the Indonesian Hospital in the past few days.
“The attacks targeting healthcare facilities and workers in northern Gaza, including the Indonesian Hospital, are clear violations of international law, [...] humanitarian law and fundamental human rights,” the ministry wrote in a statement on Tuesday.
Indonesia also insisted that hospitals, healthcare workers and all patients receiving treatment had to be protected under all circumstances, without exception.
Israeli forces besieged hospitals and shelters for displaced people in northern Gaza on Monday as they stepped up their operations. The United Nations Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA also said that Israeli authorities prevented humanitarian missions from reaching areas in the north with critical supplies, including medicine and food.
Medics at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza said that Israeli troops stormed a school and detained the men before setting it ablaze. The fire reached hospital generators and caused a power outage, they said as reported by Reuters.
The medics also refused orders from the Israeli army to evacuate the three hospitals in the area or leave the patients unattended.
