est-selling series “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” has made its way from the books to cinemas and, now, the small screen.
The internationally acclaimed dark-comedy series has been picked up Netflix and will start to be shown around the world on Jan. 13, 2017, as an eight-episode series.
The story revolves around the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans—Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and baby sister Sunny—whose evil guardian Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance.
As seen in the two-and-a-half minute teaser, the children arrive at their new home and encounter a slew of interesting characters, including the many disguises of Count Olaf.

From there, things get whimsically darker, as the children are subjected to Olaf’s devious plans, while also trying to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death.
Prior to Harris, Jim Carrey portrayed the maniacal evil guardian in the 2004 film.
The upcoming show is produced by Emmy Award winner Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler, and stars Patrick Warburton (Lemony Snicket), Joan Cusack (Justice Strauss), Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire), Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire), Presley Smith (Sunny), Alfre Woodard (Aunt Josephine), Catherine O’Hara (Dr. Orwell), K. Todd Freeman (Mr. Poe), Aasif Maandvi (Uncle Monty) and Don Johnson (Sir).
