Rock band Slank has launched Slankopi, its signature coffee brand, to encourage entrepreneurship and empower its local fans.
As reported by kompas.com, Slank drummer Bimbim said the coffee line was part of the band's "slankerpreneur" empowerment program, which focuses on local products and inspires fans to become entrepreneurs.
Bimbim said that, to add variety to the Slankopi brand, the band aimed to highlight Indonesian coffee from across the country.
"We have plans to use coffee from Gayo and Wonosobo, because each region has its own signature coffee," he said.

The band also expressed hope that the product would create jobs, as new entrepreneurs could open coffee shops to sell it.
Furthermore, it said that coffee was a source of inspiration in writing music, with several of its songs containing lyrics that mention coffee.
"We've been close to coffee since our youth. Since the sixth album, there has been 'Kopi Air Hujan' (Rainwater Coffee), 'Minum Aja Kopi Gue' (Just Drink My Coffee). Every time we toured the regions, we always tried their signature coffee; coffee was always a part of our ride," Kaka, the band's vocalist, said. (liz/kes)
