anado - One way Indonesia can overcome the COVID-19 pandemic is to establish herd immunity through community vaccination. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) is committed to supporting the success of the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

Through the BRI Manado Regional Office, BRI deployed Teras BRI Kapal Bahtera Seva III to help medical personnel carry out vaccinations in South Halmahera regency, North Maluku.

Vaccination activities in the South Halmahera area were carried out in several stages, the first of which was carried out on Thursday. The total target of vaccine participants is more than 1,000. The next stage will be following the operational activities of Teras BRI Kapal for a week. BRI's support for the success of the vaccination program is not only in the use of the ship, but BRI also provides masks, hand sanitizer, face shields and PPE.

State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir said the focus of SOEs was also to help deal with the pandemic. He is optimistic that the quick steps taken by state-owned companies will respond quickly to needs in the field. Erick Thohir appreciated the quick steps taken by all parties in SOEs who were actively collaborating in assisting the handling of COVID-19. He also requested that these services continue to be improved for the sake of the mission to help Indonesia to rise from the pandemic.

The same thing was conveyed by BRI vice president director Catur Budi Harto, that vaccination is one of the important things for us to get out of the pandemic. Previously, BRI also participated in the success of the Gotong Royong vaccination program in order to accelerate herd immunity while protecting BRI workers and their families against the spread of the virus. "This time, BRI's commitment to the success of the vaccination program is continued by utilizing several of BRI's ships in the 3T area. In addition to the islands of the South Halmahera region, vaccination activities by Teras BRI Kapal will also be carried out in the Thousand Islands, Anambas Islands, Riau and around the islands of East Nusa Tenggara," he said.

Catur added that through this program, BRI wanted to make a real impact on its presence in the community, especially in today's difficult times. The existence of BRI not only provides economic value but also social value, especially for people in 3T (frontier, outermost and disadvantaged) areas that are difficult to reach by many parties.

The head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for North Sulawesi, Gorontalo and North Maluku, Darwisman, said he appreciated and supported the BRI program because it was in line with the government's program to accelerate vaccination so that herd immunity could be achieved, saying it was a real collaboration between the OJK, the IJK and the Health Ministry. "The financial services sector is expected to be able to drive the nation's economy and play an important role, especially in the vaccination program, which is a game changer for the national economic recovery (PEN) program," he concluded.
