T

he public has welcomed the announcement on the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival (BNIJJF2022), which is to be held live on 27-29 May 2022 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran, North Jakarta.

Furthermore, the opening lineup features a diverse range of musicians from genres that include jazz and its derivative forms, ranging from Best R&B Album Grammy winner PJ Morton to young Indonesian jazz musician Adikara Fardy.

This is consistent with the BNIJJF’s mission to introduce Indonesia’s musical talents to the world.

Dewi Gontha, the president director of organizer Java Festival Production, said that the return of the BNIJJF this year was good news for Indonesian music lovers, following a vacuum of live concerts and events that had severely affected many people, especially musicians and the music industry.

Dewi added the the organizer was doing its utmost to ensure that the festival was safe, comfortable and memorable in terms of the “new normal”.

In line with this, Java Festival Production has developed a special e-ticket system in collaboration with PeduliLindungi, the official COVID-19 tracing app.

This year’s BNI Java Jazz Festival is themed “Blooming Season” and features an art exhibit that will captivate visitors in the moment through diverse artwork for the enjoyment of people from all walks of life.

Dewi expressed the hope that the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2022 would quench music lovers’ “thirst for live music festivals”, and that “more and more people will fall in love with jazz and its derivative musical genres, including R&B, soul, funk and other types of music that will be found at the festival".

She added that the festival would not have been possible without the government’s support, which had encouraged the industry’s revival and enabled it to bounce back following two years of pandemic restrictions.

Java Festival Production was especially grateful for the support of the Office of the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister as well as the home affairs, tourism and creative economy, and health ministries. It also expressed appreciation to the National COVID-19 Handling Task Force, the National Police, the Jakarta provincial administration and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for their guidance and support over the months of preparing for the festival.

“We also thank the event sponsors who once again gave their trust and support for this event, because without them, this event would not have become a reality. In this case, we would like to thank BNI, MLD, Sosro, Blibli, Telkomsel, Indofood, Indomobil, BMW and all other sponsors," added Dewi.

BNI facilities

This year's BNI Java Jazz Festival is special because it marks the revival of live, in-person festivals in Indonesia after a hiatus of almost two years.

Corporate secretary Mucharom of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) said that, in keeping with the spirit of #LompatLebihTinggi (jumping higher), the state-owned lender continued to support the development of the country’s creative industries. The BNIJJF2022 was one result of this effort.

BNI was also contributing to this year’s Java Jazz Festival by offering attractive facilities such as the Buy1Get2 Daily Pass promotion for festivalgoers who had a BNI debit or credit card, available on the official BNIJJF website (www.javajazzfestival.com). In addition, festival purchases made with BNI credit cards could be combined with a zero percent 3-month installment promotion and savings of up to 50 percent when using BNI Rewards Points.

Mucharom also said that BNI was also adapting to the needs of its customers, especially younger customers who expected day-to-day convenience, including in making financial transactions. BNI supported their needs by providing a complete array of digital features that allowed them to make transactions anywhere, anytime.

“BNI has set up a cashless payment ecosystem that accepts TapCash and QRIS transactions at the BNIJJF2022,” he said. “Of course, there will be promos and programs for TapCash and QRIS BNI Mobile Banking users at the event.”
