Nicke Widyawati: CSR star at Indonesia's Best Social Responsibility Awards (BESAR) 2023 PT Pertamina (Persero) President Director Nicke Widyawati, represented by Pertamina's vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Small Medium Enterprise Partnership Program (SMEPP), received the 2023 Indonesia Best Social Responsibility Awards (BESAR) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Star at an event initiated by La Tofi School of Social Responsibility at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/10/2023).

T Pertamina CEO and president director Nicke Widyawati received the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Star award at the Indonesia Best Social Responsibility Awards (BESAR) 2023, initiated by La Tofi School of Social Responsibility, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This award was received by Nicke Widyawati as a company leader with extraordinary responsibility toward the success and sustainability of the company’s CSR programs.

La Tofi, founder of the La Tofi Award and leader of the School of Social Responsibility, stated that the CSR field had produced significant figures who played a crucial role, and the BESAR appreciation is given to recognize these figures as CSR stars thanks to their contribution.

“The CSR Stars or award recipients serve as powerful inspiration for CSR practices that bring about change in both society and their companies. The CSR Stars consistently promote the best CSR practices for the companies they lead, including Pertamina's CEO and president director. Through her leadership, Nicke Widyawati is recognized for successfully ensuring energy availability nationwide, advancing energy transition and making communities from Sabang to Merauke beneficiaries of Pertamina's social responsibility initiatives,” explained La Tofi

The award acceptance was represented by Pertamina’s CSR & Small, Medium Enterprise Partnrship Program (SMEPP) vice president Fajriyah Usman, who also provides a presentation on Energizing Sustainable Communities, a collective effort involving communities to create socially impactful and sustainable activities.

In addition to Nicke Widyawati, La Tofi's awards were also received by other Pertamina Group entities, namely the Pertamina Foundation and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Zone I.

Furthermore, the Indonesia BESAR Review Certificate of Appreciation was presented to PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang Field, PT Pertamina EP Rantau Field, PT Pertamina EP Lirik Field, PT Pertamina EP Jambi Field and PT Pertalife Insurance.

Pertamina Corporate Communication vice president Fadjar Djoko Santoso said this appreciation was the result of Pertamina's commitment to providing positive benefits to the Indonesian community, particularly in driving the nation's economy and self-sufficiency.

“Many communities have already experienced the positive impact of this program. We hope that in the future, Pertamina Group's programs can become even more integrated, allowing their reach and impact to extend to all of Pertamina's operational areas,” explained Fadjar.

In 2022, Pertamina's program reached approximately 45,000 beneficiaries, including 17,000 mothers and children benefiting from health programs, 14,000 female micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (SMSE) beneficiaries in terms of self-sufficiency, 12,000 households benefiting from social food support and 4,000 labor force beneficiaries in terms of job absorption. Meanwhile, in the empowerment aspect, there were 2,600 farmers and fishermen who benefited, in education, 1,500 students received benefits and 500 beneficiaries were supported to empower them with disabilities.

Through the Sustainable Environment program, the Village Energy Independence (DEB) and Pertamina Forest has successfully reduced emissions by 685,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year, with a total multiplier effect of Rp 2.8 billion (US$175,600) per year and 119 community empowerment programs.

Through the Sustainable Education program, specifically through the Sobat Bumi and Sahabat Disabilitas scholarship programs, Pertamina reached 50 students from remote and eastern parts of Indonesia (3T areas) and 70 self-reliant individuals with permanent jobs.

Through the Sustainable Academy program, in collaboration with the Wisatawa Village UMK Academy and the Enduro Entrepreneurship, they have generated 43 SMSE Go Global mentoring programs, a total income of Rp 600 million for the tourist-conscious groups, and have trained 329 students from the Independent Workshop Vocational High School.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition sector, is committed to supporting the net-zero emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All of these efforts align with the implementation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles across all of Pertamina's business lines and operations.
