T

he Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority has said that it requires an additional Rp 3.15 trillion (US$ 204.9 million), citing needs to cover higher infrastructure spending in the new capital project.

The request comes on top of the existing Rp 434 billion IKN budget, which has already been approved by the House’s Budget Committee (Banggar). If granted by lawmakers, OIKN would see its budget increase by more than sevenfold.

OIKN head Bambang Susantono said on Monday that there were additional needs that have not yet been accounted for in the existing budget plan, namely supervising and managing infrastructure development in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

“This is why we are seeking additional funding, though [Banggar had said] that [the state budget planning] had already concluded,” Bambang explained, as reported by Kumparan.

“Perhaps there are specific policies we can propose to ensure that these essential matters can still be addressed in the coming year,” he continued.

Banggar had not yet decided on the budget increase and would further study the plan, according to Antara.
