tilt Studios, a start-up specializing in prefabricated modular homes, has secured US$10 million in a series A funding round consisting of a mix of debt and equity.
The Bali-based firm aims to provide housing solutions that minimize construction time, costs and environmental impact.
Its prefab homes would allow customers to choose various design and customization options, ranging from cabins to multi-story family homes, out of standard components, comparable to stacking Lego bricks.
These homes are constructed with elevated structures and renewable materials, reducing land usage and carbon emissions in comparison to traditional houses, the company said.
Stilt Studios CEO Florian Holm said in a statement on Thursday that the fresh funds would be used to pursue the firm’s goal of expanding to the international market and initiating its first large-scale residential project.
For now, the company is focusing on entering the Australian market, with its first construction project in the country slated to commence later this year. The start-up says it also has more than 1,000 ongoing inquiries from European countries and the United States in advanced planning.
Moreover, it plans to make its first commercial office building project in early 2024.
