akarta-Bandung high-speed railway operator PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) said on Monday that the Whoosh train had set a new daily ridership record after a month of commercial operation.
“The new record was 21,312 passengers, which was achieved on Nov. 12,” KCIC corporate secretary general manager Eva Chairunisa said.
“The previous record was on Nov. 11 with 20,000 passengers and on Nov. 10 with 18,000 passengers.”
Eva attributed the higher number of passengers to additional trips on weekends.
“The Whoosh high-speed railway has become the preferred transportation mode for journeys between Jakarta and Bandung,” she claimed.
On Nov. 12, 497 of the passengers, or 2.3 percent, were first-class passengers, 886 (4.2 percent) traveled business class and the remainder were in premium economy class.
Eva said the average occupancy rate for each trip was 98.5 percent with several trips being sold out.
