Abu Dhabi Port appears keen to run the container terminal at West Java’s Patimban Port.
Abu Dhabi Port has expressed interest in managing the container terminal at Patimban Port in West Java.
The news was broken by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi during his trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, which included a meeting with Abu Dhabi Port CEO Saif Al Mazrouei.
“A few things are still being negotiated. Hopefully, it will result in the best, mutually beneficial offer,” Budi was quoted as saying in a press statement released by the ministry on Saturday.
Budi said his ministry had been trying to find a “strategic partner” with the global network, capability and capacity to manage an international seaport. This endeavor was undertaken together with the port’s operator, Patimban International Port (PPI).
He went on to say that PPI had received a partnership proposal from Abu Dhabi Port.
The minister told Abu Dhabi Port that Patimban was Indonesia’s first harbor that was directly connected with an industrial area in close proximity.
“The Indonesian government is fully committed to pushing Patimban Port to produce utmost benefits for the people and increase their competitiveness,” he continued.
