ndonesia is gearing up to join World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to Oct. 13, 2025. The agenda serves as the main platform for various countries to reinforce their commitment to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The Indonesian Pavilion at the five-yearly event will carry the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future”, focusing primarily on Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable development, including implementing the green and blue economies under the SDGs framework.

The ship used as the design for the Indonesia Pavilion represents sustainable development and symbolizes the future exploration in accordance with the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) “A Sovereign, Advanced and Sustainable Archipelagic Country” to embody the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.

“As the world’s largest archipelagic country, home to the world’s fourth-largest population and the world’s second-largest biodiversity, Indonesia has carried out various strategies to achieve the SDGs. Last year, a report released by the United Nations revealed that Indonesia was one of the countries with the most progressive achievement regarding the SDGs among the upper middle-income economies,” explained National Development Planning Minister/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa, who acted as Responsible National Authority for organizing Indonesia’s participation in World Expo 2025 in Osaka on Feb. 28.
