Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said on Tuesday that the administration would issue a presidential instruction to underline utilization of vacant state assets, including the Athletes Village, so it could spur economic activities in Jakarta, while also utilizing them as public facilities, as reported by Kumparan.
“We have assessed interest in prospective commercial activities. It would also serve as housing for state servants, as many happen to live within the vicinity of the building,” Sri Mulyani said.
“However, we don’t want to send an incorrect signal because we still have plans to move the capital [to East Kalimantan],” she added.

Before it became one of the country’s most prominent health facilities during the height of COVID-19, it accommodated athletes for the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
