IDX Composite rises 0.47%, hits new all-time high

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index rose by 0.47 percent to 7,466.83 at Monday's close, reaching a new all-time high.

he Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index rose by 0.47 percent, or 34.74 points, to hit a new all-time high of 7,466.83 on Monday.

The previous closing record for the composite index was 7,436.03, which occurred on Wednesday. This is the eighth time the index hit a new record-high value this year.

The total trading volume on the exchange on Monday was 15.4 billion shares, with a transaction value of Rp 9.1 trillion (US$583.62 million). A total of 318 stocks rose, 276 stocks fell, and 207 stocks were flat.

Eight sectoral indices supported Monday's increase. The non-primary consumer goods sector surged by 3.32 percent, while the industrial sector soared by 1.18 percent.

Three declining sectors for the day were health, which decreased by 0.45 percent, infrastructure, which fell by 0.44 percent, and energy, which dropped by 0.06 percent.

Monday's top gainer in the LQ45 index was PT Gudang Garam (GGRM), which rose by 8.18 percent. GGRM was followed by PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (INTP), which was up 2.83 percent, and PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (INKP), which gained 2.40 percent.

The top losers in the LQ45 index were PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPIN), which fell by 2.91 percent, PT Kalbe Farma (KLBF), which lost 2.42 percent, and PT Medco Energi Internasional (MEDC), which declined by 2.25 percent.

While the IDX hit a new record high on Monday, most benchmark Asian stock indices ended in the green. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.8 percent, Singapore’s Straits Times added 0.14 percent and China’s Shanghai Index rose by 0.49 percent. However, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell by 1.77 percent.
