taff from the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority are set to start working from the planned new capital city in East Kalimantan next month.

IKN Authority head Basuki Hadimuljono said on Wednesday that the construction of offices to house the staff had been completed.

The IKN authority has two other offices in Jakarta and Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, but Basuki said some of them had moved to Nusantara much earlier.

“Later our entire staff and all our activities will move to the IKN,” Basuki told lawmakers during a meeting with House of Representatives Commission II.

The government has completed the construction of several other ministries’ offices along with vertical housing units last year, but few have moved to fill those buildings.

In October last year, the government planned to have some civil servants start working from the future capital city starting this January, but the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry issued a letter in early February to postpone the move indefinitely.
