alaysian oil and gas firm Petronas is in discussions with Indonesia's Pertamina and French energy giant TotalEnergies to develop the offshore Bobara oil and gas exploration block in West Papua, a senior Petronas executive said on Tuesday.
Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman, Petronas’ vice president of international assets, told reporters on the sidelines of the Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) conference that talks on the matter had been taking place since last year but no deal had been signed.
He did not elaborate on the percentage of shares that might be acquired by TotalEnergies.

Petronas signed a production-sharing contract with the Indonesian government for the Bobara Block located in waters off West Papua last year.
The block, which the government estimates holds 6.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent, would be the firm’s first deep-water project in Indonesia as an operator, the company said last year.
Petronas and TotalEnergies maintained a long-standing partnership, Redhani said, adding that the two companies had collaborated on oil and gas projects in various countries and achieved significant success.
