The state-owned bus operator has received 70 new electric buses from China for plying Transjakarta routes by the end of June.
tate-owned bus operator Perum Damri has received 70 electric buses from Chinese manufacturer Zhongtong as part of a push to electrify its fleet, with the new buses scheduled to enter service by the end of this month on routes managed by city-owned Transjakarta.
“These electric buses are not only zero emissions but also offer improved efficiency and comfort for public transportation users in Jakarta,” Atikah Abdullah, Damri’s head of corporate communications, said in a statement on Tuesday.

Each bus is equipped with a battery with enough capacity for up to 250 kilometers per charge, as well as modern technologies for optimized performance and fast charging, according to the operator.
Damri has also installed charging stations at several depots in Jakarta to support daily operations.
The Zhongtong buses’ arrival brings the company’s electric bus fleet to 316 vehicles, 116 of which are already plying Transjakarta routes.
Replacing conventional diesel buses with EVs could significantly cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Atikah said, as part of Damri’s efforts to support the country’s 2060 net-zero emissions target.
